Have your say on the silent crisis facing the construction industry
The vote is open!
The “Construction Industry Mega Poll” has been launched by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) to help identify concerns within the industry for obtaining reasonable professional indemnity insurance (PII) cover.
Following the Grenfell Tragedy in 2017, some businesses within the industry have started reporting concerns over the scope, accessibility and cost of PII policies. The limitations in the scope of cover are reported to affect cladding and other fire safety related issues and are reflected in the exclusions of cover. It is also reported that there are now fewer PII providers in the market, arguably because of the risks attached to the uncertainty of the use of fire safety materials, meaning premiums are increasing. At a time where most industries are feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, these increased premiums could make having PII insurance unviable forcing certain construction businesses out of the market.
The poll/survey is open to anybody within the construction industry and the feedback is entirely confidential. The poll/survey can be accessed here and the closing date is 12 March 2021.
Please get involved and have your say. We will continue to monitor this issue and report on the results.
