Keebles pays tribute to valuable contribution of former Head of Family Law
A committed and highly skilled family lawyer who was a qualified mediator and collaboratively trained, Vanessa led the firm’s Family Law Department from strength to strength over many years.
Held in high esteem by her industry and colleagues, the latest Legal 500 Guide praises Vanessa for being ‘efficient, caring and robust’, lauding her ‘broad knowledge of finance and childcare, and for her passion for collaboration.’
Vanessa boosted membership as chair of South Yorkshire Resolution during 2013-2017, encouraging closer links between care lawyers and family lawyers. She was given a heartfelt standing ovation for her contribution at a South Yorkshire Resolution dinner earlier this year.
A breast cancer sufferer, Vanessa was a passionate volunteer and spokesperson for Breast Cancer Care with whom Keebles has this year launched a partnership to help boost the charity’s fundraising.
Keebles’ partner Paul Trudgill, who has known and worked with Vanessa for 26 years, said: “Our condolences and thoughts are with Vanessa’s family at this difficult time.
“Vanessa’s enormous contribution to the firm speaks for itself, but what I will remember is her wit, charm and glorious eccentricity. Vanessa left an indelible impression on everyone she met or worked with and we will all miss her greatly.”
Michele Wightman, who heads Keebles’ Private Client Department, added: “As well as her exceptional ability it was her kindness and empathy to her clients that set Vanessa apart. Her passing leaves a big hole in the South Yorkshire legal community.”
